In 1958 boatman Ary Eikelenboom sr. went ashore to conduct a road transport company in Schipluiden, Netherlands, called Eikelenboom
Internationale Transporten. Over the years, the fleet grew steadily from 2 road tankers in 1958 towards more than 100 tankers in 2005.
In 1978 - 1979 Eikelenboom opened new establishments in Bergen op Zoom and Amsterdam. Because the original headquarters in
Schipluiden became too small, all operations were transferred to the Amsterdam site, again transferred to Bergen op Zoom in 1984. Additionally, the company allocated a standing place in Rotterdam for
part of the equipment.
On both the Amsterdam and Bergen op Zoom sites, modern tank washing facilities were build.
During the mid 90's the company was renamed in "Eikelenboom European Food Transport".
